Social Activities Group for Everyone – SAGE

Meet new friends and learn new skills! – 10 February 2016

If your new year’s resolution is to meet new friends or learn a new skill, then you should consider attending a new Social Activities Group for Everyone (SAGE) to be held in Mt Gravatt every Wednesday.

St Marks Uniting Church is hosting SAGE which starts on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 and will run every Wednesday during school term from 9.30am until noon.

Activities on offer include BYO craft, painting, chat, board games, book appreciation, and learning how to use technology such as phones and ipads – all free of charge! A movie will also be screened once a month. Morning tea will be provided and children are welcome to attend.

SAGE will be held at St Marks Uniting Church, on the corner of Springwood and Hicks Streets, Mt Gravatt.  Please phone Carolyn on 0468 930 050 or Rev Suzie on 0421 023 197 to book in.

Commences in hall at 9:30am with morning tea.

May 4: The Blindside (Mothers day movie) — Wednesday Group: joining movie.

June 1: Life of Pi  — Wednesday Group: Guest speaker – Anna Bieder (our German friend)

July 6: No movie (school holidays) — Wednesday Group: Games morning

August 3: The Hundred Foot Journey — Wednesday Group: Family photos

September 7: The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel — Wednesday Group: Bus trip

October 5: The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel — Wednesday Group: Bring your favourite poem or story

November 2: Letters to Juliet — Wednesday Group: Guest speaker

December 7: to be decided but something about Christmas — Wednesday Group: Christmas break up

 

Hall for Hire

Homework Club

This program is associated with Mt Gravatt State School.  School children are provided with homework support and coaching by a dedicated team from St Marks Uniting Church and the wider community.  The program is coordinated by St Marks Uniting Church.

Helping Hands

Dedicated helpers from St Marks Uniting Church lend a hand in the local community to provide a variety of support to those in our local community who need help.  Assistance has included cleaning, house maintenance, yard work, tree pruning, gutter cleaning….

Outback Links

St Marks Uniting has supported the Outback Links program run by Frontier Services in 2010 and 2012.  The 2012 trip had 4 families travel to a property near Charleville to support a family property in need.  Maintenance, cleaning, building, and general farm work was provided to the property.

Overseas Mission – Thailand

A group of young adults conducted an overseas mission trip to Thailand in 2010 to support and work with orphans.  The trip was for 2 weeks and was extremely rewarding for the children supported and the team who went to Thailand.
